Pulp Art!

Hopped onto the Elfquest forums again and it made me wanna draw EQ stuff even though I really haven't drawn EQ type of stuff for decades.

Still had the itch after the Clearbrook doodle, so decided to do an Elfquest ATC of Ember and Leetah - just to see if I still could draw them semi-decently from memory.

This is 2.5 x 3.5 inches in size in real life.

I've done ones with over 40 layers .... I just really suck at it. LOL.

I'm old, and I work over 40 hours a week and I just do not have the time that the kids have to just sit at the computer and learn it, so I only learn it in small chunks.

I have a wacom tablet that I can't even get the dumb pen to do the pressure thing with. I have PhotoshopCS3 and Illustrator CS3, so I have the tools .... I just can't seem to get past that annoying learning curve. And I totally can't get my line art all crisp and mannnnnnnn that annoys me!

Photoshop doesn't really woprk well for an original ATC though. lol.

I actually don't need convincing, I love digital coloring. I even have eveyrthing I need to do it, I'm just not great at it yet.

But in regard to THIS piece ... digital wasn't an option, since it was drawn on an ATC. Original ATCs aren't really a digital format. They'd be fine for prints - and I do digitally remaster some ACEOs that will be printed ... but sometimes you can only do things in a traditional format.

I'd love to see what you do with it though!

I wish I could get the hang of vvectorizing my lineart though - I *love* how crisp lineart can get, but I just seem to really suck at it.

Did you try "noise" textures...a little bit would give your snow texture fine... You could smudge some blue into it with the tools...well it's only an idea lol Even without it...it looks great buddy. Nice work POOR LADY must have wicked pokies lol
